“…You might belong in Gryffindor
Where dwell the brave at heart
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart…”

I’ve created this step by step written pattern- complete with photos, tips, tricks and helpful links- with the option to create a matching house scarf to go with it!

American Terms

Difficulty: Comfortable Beginner

Comfortable with chain bumps, rows and round changes, increasing and decreasing, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet

Yarns I used:

BODY: Lion Brand Heartland Medium (4) in “Great Sand Dunes” 5 oz
MANE: Lion Brand Heartland Medium (4) in “Sequoia” 5 oz
Lion Brand Basic Stitch Medium (4) in “Gold Heather” 3.5 oz
SCARF: Red Heart Heat Wave Medium (4) in “Luggage” 3.5 oz
Loops & Threads Impeccable Medium (4) in “Sunny Day” 4.5 oz

***** A NOTE ON YARNS*****
Almost all of the yarns I use in my stash has been given to me, so they vary widely. However I suggest the same weight, and if possible the same brand if you are buying new skeins, of at least 3.5 oz of each color. This ensures that each piece will match in size and shape as “medium weight” can vary from brand to brand.

Colors needed for pieces: body color, scarf color, and mane color (which is two medium weight yarns held together- I used two different colors but you can use one skein with both ends held together).

Recommended Hook size: 3.25 mm (used in pattern) or 3.5 mm

Supplies:

  • Yarn

  • Yarn Needle

  • Sewing pins

  • Fiber filling

  • Scissors

  • 12 mm Safety eyes - you can also use buttons or eyes of choice

  • Crochet hook

  • Scrap yarn or stitch markers

  • Pet Brush or bristle brush for brushing out the mane.

Some pieces are worked in the round and some worked flat. Each piece is noted before you begin.
